Privacy Policy for the Poetry Event
Effective date: October 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Becky Morquecho and the featured poets collect, use, and share information when you visit or register through beckymorquecho.com/poetry-event.
Important notice about sharing your email
When you register, your email address will be shared with every featured poet participating in this event:
- Becky Morquecho
- Lyndsay Rush
- Laura Wifler
- Elise Powers
Your email is not kept solely by Becky Morquecho. Each featured poet will receive a copy and may independently use it to send event-related communications. If you also consent to promotional emails, each poet may send occasional newsletters, announcements, or information about her work and offerings.
Each poet manages her communications independently. Unsubscribing from one poet’s emails may not unsubscribe you from emails sent by the other poets.
Information we collect
When you register, we collect information you provide directly, including:
- Your first name
- Your last name, if provided
- Your email address
The event page may also collect limited referral and technical information, including:
- Referral or campaign information contained in the link you used, such as UTM parameters
- The referring webpage
- The event landing-page URL
- Your IP address, browser type, device information, access time, and similar information commonly recorded by web servers and service providers
The event page may save referral information in your browser’s local storage for up to 30 days so we can understand how people found the event.
How we use information
We may use the information collected to:
- Register you for the event
- Send the event link, reminders, schedule changes, and follow-up information
- Respond to questions or requests
- Measure registrations and understand how attendees found the event
- Prevent fraud, spam, misuse, or technical problems
- Comply with legal obligations
- Send newsletters or promotional messages when permitted by law and consistent with the choices presented to you
How we share information
In addition to sharing your email address with every featured poet as explained above, we may disclose information to:
- Website-hosting, registration, email-delivery, analytics, and other service providers that process information on our behalf
- Government authorities or other parties when disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or respond to lawful requests
- A successor or related party in connection with a reorganization, transfer, or sale of the event or associated operations
We do not sell attendee personal information for money.
Email choices
Event-related messages may be necessary to provide the event for which you registered.
Promotional emails will include an unsubscribe method when required. Because each featured poet maintains her own email communications, you may need to unsubscribe separately from each poet’s list.
You may also contact becky@beckymorquecho.com to request help with your email preferences. We may need to forward your request to the other featured poets so they can address information in their possession.
Retention
We keep registration information for as long as reasonably necessary to organize and administer the event, provide follow-up communications, maintain appropriate records, and comply with legal obligations.
After information has been shared, each featured poet may retain it according to her own recordkeeping practices, legal obligations, and the email preferences you communicate to her.
Your privacy choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with you.
To make a request, contact becky@beckymorquecho.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Because the featured poets possess separate copies of the registration information, you may also need to direct your request to each poet.
Browser signals and third-party collection
The event page uses browser local storage for referral attribution. It is not intended to use your information for cross-site behavioral advertising.
Because there is not a universally accepted standard for legacy “Do Not Track” browser signals, the event page does not currently respond to those signals. We will honor legally recognized privacy-choice signals when applicable and technically supported.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect registration information. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
The event page is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us so we can address it.
Links to other websites
The event page or related emails may link to websites operated by the featured poets or other parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the event, our technology, or our information practices change. The effective date at the top will identify the latest version. If a change materially affects how previously collected information is used or shared, we will provide notice when required.
